What is PBMES?
The Princeton Biomedical Engineering Society (PBMES) is a student-led chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society, dedicated to connecting students with the field of biomedical engineering and biosciences.
Our mission is to expose students to new knowledge, research, and career opportunities through faculty and industry lectures, information sessions, and (most importantly) study breaks!
By bringing together students interested in biology, medicine, engineering, and technology, we aim to foster a collaborative community that encourages exploration of the many paths available within biomedical engineering!
What is Biomedical Engineering?
Simply put, biomedical engineering is the combination of engineering principles and biological sciences to make breakthroughs in medicine, biotechnology, and patient care.
Biomedical engineers work in various fields, including (but not limited to) prosthetics engineering, stem cell engineering, medical imaging and optics, and biomedical microdevices. If you’ve ever used a smartwatch, had noise-canceling headphones, or received LASIK eye surgery, you’ve experienced the products of biomedical engineering!
Biomedical engineering is a rapidly growing field, especially here at Princeton University. With the opening of Briger Hall, home to the Omenn-Darling Bioengineering Institute (ODBI) and the Sarofim Pavilion, our campus is expanding (quite literally) as a hub for knowledge and research in the biosciences.

What Can I Do?
